As part of our mission to serve others in our community who are in need, we collect items that our partner organizations need to do their work.
Pet Food Collection
We are now collecting pet food for the Capuchin Community Services Food Bank at the back of the church. When clients of this food bank can get pet food, they will no longer need to share their human food with their pet, who may be their best friend. Nor will they need to consider giving up their pet because they cannot afford to feed it. Give generously.
Ongoing Collection for Kinship Community Food Center
Each Sunday, we collect non-perishable food items for the Kinship Community Food Center. Please bring in nutritional items of food and deposit them in a basket at the rear of the church. See the Friday newsletter or Sunday bulletin to read what Kinship needs most this month.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Collection
The Gathering on the Southside is now serving 325 meals each Monday and Wednesday evening and Saturday lunchtime, so our efforts to support this food program are so needed in this time of federal budget cuts to food donation sites like Hunger Task Force and Feeding America.
We use about 620 oz. of peanut butter each time we make 300 sandwiches. That is approximately 13 jars of 48 oz. peanut butter! We need a steady stream of donations of peanut butter and jelly throughout the year to keep up with our monthly sandwich-making Sundays. Because of the donations over the past few months, we have not had to purchase peanut butter or jelly and have only used our grant money for bread! Please bring your donations to church and place them in the marked basket at the back of the church.
